Give yourself the gift of learning -an exciting opportunity to tap into your own creativity and develop artwork that reflects your own inspirations and aspirations!

I have taught art and design in a variety of settings for the last 20 years and to all ages and levels. In the last few years I have been leading workshops from my studio, at a variety of other UK locations and now online.

I have developed an inclusive and exciting approach to online teaching that focuses on sharing my own art practices and expressive art making techniques. I use my own projects as source material. The methods are fun and engaging as well as facilitating your own creative practice development.

Making your mark

Do you love the landscape and want to make artwork that reflects your excitement with its visual richness? Do you enjoy drawing your surroundings but want to create more energy, variety and interest in your mark making? We explore our subject through an exciting variety of exploratory mark making techniques, involving a range of materials, including collage. These approaches help you develop your own visual language. They will enable you to record your experiences in more expressive ways that are less representational.

Your sketchbook journey

Do you enjoy working in sketchbooks but feel like you want to develop a wider range of approaches so that you can explore your subject more expressively and experimentally? Are you excited by the idea of working in sketchbooks but need some guidance and encouragement to make the most of them in your art practice? We use a variety of media and sketchbook types alongside different expressive approaches to broaden our understanding of the subject. Varied sketchbook pages, a series of handmade books and a studio journal are produced.

Your collage compositions

Do you love pattern and texture and seek different ways to incorporate it into your work? Perhaps you enjoy the impact of collage in artwork and want to explore how to bring it into your own work to add variety and interest. We gather and create collage papers using a variety of media. We then use these to develop exciting collage works on paper and in sketchbooks. A mix of collage composition studies, collage creations in a concertina sketchbook and mixed media layered collage studies on paper are produced. This course is due to be released in late spring (April/May 2024).
