Frequently asked questions

If you don’t find the answer to your question here, please send me an email at liz@lizackerleyart.com or message me using the Connect menu at the top of the page.

What medium are your original paintings?

I work mostly with water-based materials such as acrylic paint and inks, alongside pencil, charcoal and pastels. My work often includes collage paper, either found ephemera or papers that I have hand printed. Included in the paper is often text whether my own hand or printed material.

What surfaces do you work on?

I work on panel, board, canvas, or paper. The panels are cradle panels whilst the board can be either plywood or MDF. My work on paper includes cartridge paper, Khadi paper and watercolour paper. This is indicated with the work specifically.

Are your paintings framed?

It depends. Often my panels and canvases are framed and if so, it will be in a simple contemporary float frame that compliments the artwork style. Framing is a personal choice and often I provide my work unframed, this can look modern and often people like to hang it like this. Work on paper is mostly unframed and sometimes provided with a simple mount.

Will my painting be ready to hang?

Yes, my paintings on cradle panel, wood or canvas come with picture cord already fixed and ready to hang. You just have to decide where!

Will my work on paper be ready to hang?

It depends. If the work on paper is framed, then it will be ready to hang as above. However, mostly my work on paper comes with or without mount and a protective cover. It’s then up to you to decide how you want to frame or display it.

My favourite painting has sold- how can I be sure to know about new work?

Make sure you join my mailing list to find out about new work before it is added to the website. You can also follow my painting progress and see my videos on my YouTube channel, my Instagram feed or my Facebook page.

How will my painting be wrapped?

It depends on the size, but paintings will be carefully packed using corner protection, bubble wrap and cardboard (work on paper is carefully encased between sturdy cardboard and wrapped in brown paper). Each one is unique, so I take care that it is well protected to arrive in perfect condition. For further details about delivery, please see the shipping details (link to that page).

Do you do commissions?

Currently I am not taking on new commissions because I am working on a new body of work. If you like my style, then one of those maybe the one for you! Please ensure you join my mailing list as I release works to subscribers first.

Do you sell your sketchbooks?

Sketchbooks are an important part of my art practice. I sell certain of my sketchbooks and these relate to specific series of work. These are usually but not exclusively, my pocket concertina sketchbooks. I work in these sketchbooks with a mix of media and often include collage papers. The pocket concertinas come with a case and a bespoke sleeve. You can find out what’s available in my sketchbook section here
